Week 29

No picture this week, because we haven't gotten out the camera. We working on making our yard look nice, including some new rhododendron bushes and some fun climbing plants with a few trellis'. We'll be putting in climbing hydrangea, clematis, and wisteria; they'll go on one side of our front porch, in the mulched area by the new bushes, and by the mailbox. Hopefully it'll smell pretty! Our neighbor has a lilac bush that smells amazing when we have the windows open. Also, our beautiful dogwood tree is a-bloomin'. Maybe I'll take pictures later. :)

It's NFL draft week, which means lot (LOTS) of sitting around watching TV, and only once in a while hearing something about the Chiefs (Nathan is happy with the picks so far, in case anyone is wondering.). So today both of us piled onto our huge couch with the dogs (with enough room for the cats, who were nowhere to be seen....) and stared at the TV for awhile. After a bit, baby started kicking! Probably because I was laying on my side, squishing the poor little guy, but at least I'm learning how to make him move. :) Anyway, Nathan got to see my belly move quite a bit today, and boy, was he excited. It's the first day he's seen it (mainly I just feel it, and he'll feel it every now and then) and I think it made his day. Little dude is quite a mover, but he's getting in quite a few less hard kicks since he's getting bigger and running out of room. I was never a fan of the random hard kicks that surprised/hurt me, so I'm glad it's just movements now! I know over the next month we'll get to see lots more belly movement!

I always thought those 3D and 4D sonograms were CREEPY. No way would I want one, because baby looks like an alien. BUT now that we're getting closer I'm getting so excited about seeing what this little guy looks like, I told Nathan I wouldn't mind getting one of those done. Even though it still creeps me out. He said I only have to wait 10 weeks. :) Har. It would be neat, but it's an expense that I think is unnecessary. We'll get to see him soon! Hopefully at week 37 (hey, I'm impatient.) but Nathan is hoping for July 4. It's funny because when I was scheduling my next 5 (yes, five) appointments (since they're all getting closer!!) the nurse said "Just don't hope for the holiday weekend!" and I had to laugh, since that's what Nathan wants. He thinks it would be neat since I'm a "holiday" baby as well. We'll see. :)

Is this week 27 or 28? Everything is a blur.

We went home last weekend for our baby shower. I’d say it was a long trip, but the dogs were in the very back of our new SUV, and since it’s a new (to us) car, it made the trip a lot nicer! Way less crowded then taking the truck! Of course, the trip home was VERY crowded, but we only had to leave 1 thing behind, so the SUV did it’s job. I wish I had taken pictures of the backseat on the trip home, but when we got home I just wanted to get all that cute baby stuff in the baby’s room. Let’s just say there was no room. We had to ask each other if we could get into the other lane since our back windows were blocked and we couldn’t see the blind spot. Smile At least we (and the dogs!) had plenty of room!
Here’s a picture of our yummy Patty-Cake!

This is the table of yummy-ness:

Diana made some amazing punch, with a beautiful fruit ring in the middle. (Seriously, I think this and the Patty-cake was the #1 talked about thing at the shower Smile)

We played some games (my dad had a little trouble…)

Here are a few pictures of us opening gifts. We like to play with bows.

Of course, no shower would be right without Aunt Nikki making a crazy comment and embarrassing her mother. Smile

On our way home we stayed the night in Indianapolis (to make the drive more bearable- thanks mom and dad!) and a lady asked me when I was due! It was the first random person to ask me. I guess now I look pregnant! Whew. While it is uncomfortable sometimes, it’s pretty neat.
Today we went shopping and a lady came up to me and asked if I was expecting, then asked if she could pray for me. I told her sure (why not?) and she asked my name, took my hand and said a prayer right there for me! It was pretty nice (though I thought she’d do it in the comfort of her home, instead of in the freezer section at the local Shop-n-Save….) until she pressed against my chest and almost knocked me into the frozen potatoes. I guess we can laugh about it now, but it was rather weird.
My next doctor appointment is this coming Thursday, and I think the appointments will be every 2 weeks now instead of 4, so at least I’ll get to hear the heartbeat more often! I suppose it’s time to start painting the baby’s room, and getting everything organized. Or maybe next week. Smile

Week 26, The end.

Last weekend we drove took the Greyhound bus from Pittsburgh to Ann Arbor, Michigan to meet our amazing friends Andy and Jenny. I partly say amazing since we never get to see them and we really miss being near them (and they’re pretty awesome people with the cutest kid in the world), and partly because they let us buy their SUV from them! Which is why we met them in Michigan. I haven’t taken a picture yet of our new car truck SUV because it’s been RAINY here. And I’m not standing out in the rain any longer than I have to. I carted around the 4 year old I babysit for and realized how much time it takes a kid to listen/ get out of the car. In other words, I’m glad I had a jacket with a hood on, because otherwise I could have swam away. Maybe I’m just impatient Smile

Anyway, on our way home from Michigan we detoured a tad north in Ohio so we could visit Lake Erie, to a beach just northwest of Cleveland. It was about 75 degrees outside (the day before was freezing. This weather is crazy.) and beautiful! If it hadn’t have been so windy… sand+wind=sandstorm in my face. Oh well. At least we got a picture.

Nathan didn’t want to be in any pictures, or else this spotrighthere would have his mug in it. Oh well. Here I am at 26 weeks. Today, April 12, I started my 27th week, and got a nice email saying I only have 13 weeks to go! Our countdown clock is at 90 days.  If we at least had the baby’s room cleaned out and painted I’d probably feel a lot better. I’m sure we’ll get around to it. Eventually.

We found an amazing store in Pittsburgh (www.happybabycompany.com) that carries cloth diapers and tons of cool accessories and whatnot, and they offer a free cloth diapering class. So, we’re going to one, probably in May. We picked up a couple of diapers when we were there, because who knows? Maybe this one random diaper we picked up will be best for nighttime, while others leak. At least we’ll have it Smile Also, I’m (don’t cringe) looking at cloth wipes. (I know, I know.) We have tons of disposable wipes (and will likely need plenty more) but I’d like to try the cloth wipes. SO. I picked up a couple of yards of flannel today at a fabric shop and I plan on making some flannel diaper wipes! If I don’t like them as wipeys then we can use them as wash cloths. No biggie. At least they’re cute.

While I’m on the baby talk, when we were in Ann Arbor we stopped at a farmers market (no food, just crafts) and found some really cute burp cloths and…. something else but I don’t remember. They’re cute though. And just around the corner at a store called www.elephantearsonline.com we picked up a couple of these:

They’re nightlights! You can move them off their charging station and they’ll stay lit for 8+ hours, or you can turn them off and use them whenever you want. And they’re cute. Right now they’re sitting on the kitchen counter. Maybe I’ll eventually move them into baby’s room, but I think I want one next to my bed.

Week 25

No picture this week… cause I. Don’t. Wanna.
But here are some OTHER pictures from this week-

We’ve been looking at this eyesore since we moved in. Thanks old homeowners! I finally (FINALLY) got around to craigslisting those ugly cylinders and someone came and picked them up! Hallelujah! Here is what it looks like now:
Okay, so maybe the word "Hallelujah" doesn't run through most peoples minds when they see this picture, but to us, it does! We're so happy we finally go rid of all that ugliness and we can finally do something with that smidge of yard. Maybe take out that extra dirt and make it part of the yard? We'll see.

Here's a picture I took of a magazine while I was at the Dr. office today (for my gestational diabetes test. Yum, orange soda-ish.)

When I first read it I thought it said "9 easy ways to cook children." :)

I was on the internet at the table today (instead of on the couch, like usual. Crazy enough, it's more comfortable to sit at the table! --Our couch is super comfy, but I can only sit certain ways anymore without being uncomfy.) I hadn't heard the dogs in awhile (who, by the way, attacked the garbage this morning and ate the bag/wrapper that hot dogs come in. Come on.) and this is where I found them! We never let them on the sofa, so I guess they just took advantage of the fact that I wasn't paying any attention to them. Brats.

Alright, I'm bored and don't have anymore fun pictures :)
PS This Sunday is Nathan's birthday! I've had his presents wrapped and sitting on the table since Tuesday :) Mean? Sure, but I learned it from him!
